Women’s Rank Five Svitolina and Ranked Seventh player of Kiki Bertens joined in the list of player who withdrawing their name from the upcoming US Open Tennis competition due to Covid-19 Pandemic.
We already know that apart of this some of the other tennis star Men’s Defending champions Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty already announced their withdrawal from the competition due to ongoing Corona virus as facing issue with travelling.
“I understand and respect all the efforts they are putting to make it happen in a safe environment, but I still don’t feel comfortable to travel to US without putting my team and myself at high risk,” Ukrainian Svitolina, who reached last year’s semi-finals in New York, said on Twitter.
AS per data so far in the USA more than 160000 people died and 5 million+ cases for Covid-19.
“The situation around COVID-19 is still worrying and the health of everyone and the control over this virus is priority,” Said the 28 Year old Bertens on Instagram.
2012 US Open winner Andy Murray said that players travelling to New York need assurance that they would not face any mandatory quarantines after return to Europe country.
“Our prime minister indicated yesterday that we should be quantined for 14 days after coming back from the States,” Bertens said
